I received my 4.2.7 board for the Ender 3 Pro today. Installation was a snap, the hardest (and most time-consuming) part was removing the hot glue from the connectors on the old board. Installation took all of 20 minutes, and I've never opened the board case before.
Once installed everything fired up perfectly with the pre-loaded firmware. I did some tests to make sure all the axes and fans worked, and the hot end and bed heated up properly -- all good. And silent! It's amazing how silent the steppers are now. As others have mentioned, all you hear during a print are the fans. My first test print came out perfectly, no sign of ringing or alignment issues. I had my Cura settings pretty well tuned for old board, but didn't change a thing and got a perfect print.
This has to be the best upgrade to an already awfully good printer, and at $38 it's worth every penny.
I have a BLTouch arriving later in the week, looking forward to an easy installation for that using the new board as well!
Great when installed as very quiet, however when using the link to install the BL Touch it did not install anything for the touch. It only installed ver 1.1.6 firmware, now I have options missing from menu and still cannot use the touch. Apparently the original firmware 1.1.8 is not available so cannot even revert back to the original stock state.
I cannot believe how good this works. The stepper motor noise is pretty much nothing now. When I first started printing after the upgrade I had to look at the printer to see that it was still printing. The fan noise is all that I hear anymore. Best $40 I have spent!
After reading a lot of reviews that recommended I swap components (add bearings to motors, new damping feets, etc) I just order the board. By far this board is the easiest thing you can do to your Ender 3 Pro to make it slient. Literally no motor noise or axis noise. Also the movements feel way better, smoother than before and I did notice a small increase in the print quality as well! Overall very happy with the mod, I can now use the printer in my office room, with no issue!
The whole process took about 10 minutes. Just make sure to peel off the glue on your old motherboard and switch the wires one by one. (Don’t take them off all at the same time). It was kind of scary how quiet it was because I was so used to hearing the sounds.
