CR 10 Max Review
3D Printing Our First Car Parts!
CR 10 Max HD Photos
This is my very first ever 3d printer and has been a great learning curve.Ive had some issues with the factory stuff and have upgraded the extruder hotend to a Micro-Swiss all metal end and added z height backlash nuts as well. All the bed level screws are tightened down fully and re leveled the carrage to the bed with some engineers blocks. Also had the pfte tube come out at the extruder end due to the fitting being low quality but has been replaced with the extras with the hot end.Things i dont like is the heat turns off on the bed when the filament runs out which is not good, would also like to see a dual extruder version of this one for running pva threw one and maybe a two spool setup so when one filament runs out it feeds the second one in behind it for continual printing.Alos needs a hotter and faster bed heater would be also great. Also and indepth manual on all the slicer setting and how they affect the final print.A x y z location meter would also be good for reff printing.
Apart from that keen to purchase another and add a Pallete2 pro and an enclosure.
Very nice design. However, QC is lacking. Get it together Creality! Luckily, there are plenty of YT videos out there on how to fix the misaligned gantry. It is incorrectly put together at the factory. You must mechanically level it with machine blocks for more accuracy or two even cut pieces of hardwood. Mine had the right side of the gantry higher than the left. Again, you must manually/mechanically adjust the gantry or your projects will suffer. Get a dual Z axis sync kit for it too. It will help. Overall, very quiet and nicely designed. Firmware from Creality is a gamble as you are not sure if you have thermal runaway. I upgraded the firmware to the Tiny Machines 3D version and it has been running phenomenally. No issues.
When you get it, go over every single bolt, nut, screw. Even the inside of the control box must be checked!!! You have been warned. Mine had several bolts/screws/nuts lose! Inside the control box, the PSU power connections were loose--->>>this could cause arcing which could end up in a fire!! I don't trust Chinese assembly work. Everything I get from China, especially 3D printing machines get a thorough inspection. I do not release the machine for production mode until I am satisfied with all my own inspections/tests. This QC phase can take up to a week. Yes, I am anal as I do a lot of print jobs for medical, government, aerospace, and others. Creality's machines are superb, they just not get the love at the assembly line. In plain words, their QC sucks.
The CR-10 Max is a superb machine with all the bells and whistles you would want if you have an Ender 3. Yes, I own several of them. The CR-10 Max is very quiet and will do anything you program it to do without any problems. If you do the firmware upgrade along with the dual z sync upgrade, you will be ready to tackle any print job. The firmware upgrade stores the offset values after the bed is leveled. The OEM firmware does not do this and there is no telling when Creality will fix this issue. My hot end was barely holding by one screw!! Yes, their QC is bad. Overall, I feel that Creality should sell these printers as a kit and the end-user can assemble it a lot better. For the price of this unit, I expect to be ready to go out of the box and there should not be any upgrades required. If they would sell it as a kit, I would want the price to drop considerably! This is not a printer for a beginner! If you like to tinker, test, adjust and print big stuff, this is the printer you need to get. I do prototype testing for other companies. If Creality wants me to test any of their products, please contact me. I will give you my unbiased review and opinions. My goal is to ensure the community gets a quality product that is ready to print right out of the box. RobFern. 22Apr2020.
Excelent printer made a product more then 200 printing hours for one product. Easy to refill in the marathon print.
